The Hamlet Thrill-Ma-Geddon

After nearly a full semester of studio theater, Phoebe’s class performed The Hamlet Thrill-Ma-Geddon last night. Phoebe played Claudius. Theater teacher Ms. Mylott writes:

As usual, this will be a chaotic, creative theatre adventure.

The plays chosen, directed, designed and managed by the students are 2 very loosely based Shakespearean spoofs by the same playwright Don Zolidis:

In the first one-act, we meet everyone’s favorite mopey prince in Denmark with some corporate sponsorship thrown in for:

The Hamlet Thrill-ma-geddon

The second one-act will be a mash-up of King Lear, Game of Thrones, and Disney princesses called:

Game of Tiaras

Here are some photos and videos.

Claudius on the throne with Gertrude.
Phoebe makes an imposing evil king.
Phoebe’s friend Alyssa played Ophelia.
The play’s narrators, Chip and Jesse.
The whole cast ready to take a bow.
Phoebe, happy, in the midst of bowing at the end of the play.

Phoebe gave me a marked-up script with scenes to shoot, but half the time I had my phone in “camera” mode instead of “video.” Therefore, I took a photo, then pointed the phone at the actors for the whole scene…only to discover my mistake at the end. Yes, I did this more than once. The videos that follow are what I actually managed to capture.

The famous speech (distilled) plus Ophelia’s speech. Phoebe’s friend Alyssa plays Ophelia.
“My royal subjects…”
This is a big chuck near the end of the play, ending with the end of Phoebe’s role.
