Almost a Week Old!

Little Phoebe will turn a week old in the wee hours of this morning. She’ll probably be awake to mark the anniversary! We had a Good Night last night (Monday)…I know this because Sunday night was a Bad Night. On Sunday she basically didn’t sleep. First she looked around, then squawked, then ate, then ate, then ate, then pooped, then looked around some more, then ate, pooped, ate. Daddy had to head back to work on Monday (we miss him!), and it was pretty clear he wasn’t getting much sleep. I was getting more and more exhausted and bored. Finally, Dave got up to go to work and Phoebe and I managed to get a little sleep.

Yesterday was a big day: first visit to the pediatrician! She’s back to her birth weight (it’s all that late-night eating) and is very healthy. We celebrated by meeting Daddy for a walk around the twin lakes (or mud flats, as the case may be) near his work at lunchtime. Yesterday afternoon we both took a nap. Then we picked up Daddy, spent a fortune at Pharmaca, and went to dinner with our group of church friends otherwise known as YABS. They oohed and aahed over Phoebe and made her parents feel very loved!

I don’t want to jinx us by suggesting that being awake in the evening is a good remedy for Bad Nights, but it seemed to work. She pooped and ate twice last night and slept the rest of the time. I woke up more than she did! (Had to make sure she was still breathing…)

Today has been a nice day too. Lots of sleeping for her. Chores and reading for me. We’re about to head out on a walk—it’s gorgeous outside!
