Let’s Start with Football…

Well, it’s been far too long since we’ve put up a post. Phoebe can do so many cool things! It’s been a pretty busy couple of weeks for Mommy, so I haven’t had time to sit down and write. This week is slower than usual, so I thought I’d take an evening to catch you up. On Sunday, September 12, we went to church and then took Phoebe to Old Chicago to watch some football. She was just a very large raisin when the season ended last year, and we’d been kind of worried about whether we’d ever be able to watch again. We hadn’t counted on having the sweetest, most laid-back baby around! She looked around and played for the first half of the games and then slept during the second half. We tried to figure out which game she was watching…until we realized that she was more excited by the 2 ceiling fans than the 12 or so TVs in the bar.

That afternoon, Phoebe drank some water and played with the bottle.

Phoebe’s been really enjoying her gears. When Daddy has a meeting in the evening, we often spend some time in her room playing.

A couple of weeks ago, I picked Phoebe up early on Friday afternoon and took her back to my office to hang out with my coworkers, who hadn’t seen her since she was three months old. The voice you hear in the background is my friend Karen.

Phoebe’s gotten so good at sitting that she can even balance on a squishy bed.

Phoebe’s started sticking her tongue out at everyone—even before smiling! Here she is on her six-month birthday getting ready for daycare. (Well, okay, waiting for Mommy and Daddy to be ready to take her to daycare.)

Last Saturday, we had a pretty great day. We packed up the car and headed out into the mountains to go camping. However, part of the way there, we found out that there was a tractor-trailer accident up at Kenosha Pass and all cars were being turned around. We went looking for a nearby campsite, but they were all closed for the season. Crazy! The weather is great all the way through October. On the way home, we stopped for lunch in Golden and got to spend some time playing in the park. We also went to a great little museum called the Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum. Phoebe also started babbling on Saturday! Dave is hopeful that da-da-da-da-da is going to turn into Da-Da pretty soon.

On Sunday, Phoebe started to get a cold. She couldn’t breathe through her very stuffy nose and we had to keep snorting it out with the bulb…no fun for anyone! On Monday, we had to pick her up early from daycare, but she turned out to have only a mild fever and a cold. She’s a lot better now, although still a bit snotty.

Sick baby napping.
Oh, poor baby.

One cool trick Phoebe’s learned (probably at daycare) is to hold her own bottle or sippy cup. Here she drinks, spills, and gurgles some lukewarm water.

We’ll leave you with a very adorable babbling baby showing off her tongue!
