Birthday month!

March was a very busy month. Of course, the most exciting event was Phoebe’s birthday! Dave and I can hardly believe that our little peanut has been alive for an entire year. She started walking in March and loves to be on her feet. She still walks like the abominable snowman, without bending her legs, but it’s extremely adorable. The month went by really fast because, as I mentioned in my last post, I traveled to Boston, Montreal, and Chicago for work conferences. Here’s a photo of Chicago I took from the plane on my way from Denver to Boston.

Here’s a photo of the Brattle Book Shop, a cool independent bookstore in downtown Boston. The alley next to the shop is painted to look like bookshelves and seems like it must be extra book storage.

Here’s the view from my hotel in Montreal.

This is a chicken I really liked in a breakfast restaurant in Montreal.

As you can see from her photos, Phoebe’s a happy, healthy, chubby baby. She eats almost everything. In fact, a few weeks ago we had dinner with our friends Jen and Varis. Phoebe ate salad with raw fennel and spaghetti squash with cilantro edamame pesto! But her absolute favorite is anything with tomatoes. She loves spaghetti, pizza, and even cherry tomatoes cut in half. As it happens, my favorite dinner is spaghetti, so I made homemade spaghetti sauce and my favorite chocolate cake to celebrate my birthday when I got home from Montreal.

Here’s Phoebe a couple of days before her birthday. She has a stuffed lion that she loves dearly. Lion is great to snuggle with; he also helps keep her from pulling her hair when she gets sleepy.

Here's Phoebe on her birthday morning, still asleep in her crib with lion.

On Phoebe’s actual birthday, she went to daycare as usual. When we picked her up, we made her some spaghetti and helped her open her birthday presents. You can tell she liked her dinner (and Daddy was very gracious about the mess)!

More spaghetti, please!
